Gursimar Singh Oberoi is a pilot and photographer whose view from above has ignited his passion to travel and document the beauty of his surroundings.
“I hope that by sharing my photos I can show people just how awesome the world is and encourage them to go out and see it for themselves.”
Gursimar’s approach to photography is evolving as he refines his style. What started as a personal way of documenting his life and travels has grown into a new way of looking at the world, framed by his cameras.
“What initially began as a digital journal for myself has now evolved into a passionate pursuit of photography. As someone who is constantly on the go, I appreciate the ease of VSCO, allowing me to edit my photos even when I’m offline. Whenever I look back it keeps me inspired and drives me to do better.”
From dramatic aerial shots to finding beauty in architecture, Gursimar’s use of vibrant colors and strong contrast combine to create a dynamic look. In addition to presets like C1 Pro, Gurismar also incorporates more advanced tools and editing techniques.
“I often use the dodge and burn tool. It gives me better control of the highlights in my RAW photos – wish I knew about it earlier, but thanks to VSCO I’m still learning.”
With Spaces, Gursimar collaborates with other photographers and is able to explore new ideas and genres. The VSCO community has even stepped in when he needed new gear.
“I came across standenm from Australia. I messaged him with questions about the camera he uses and he answered everything with patience. Well, I finally made my decision to go with it and I absolutely love it.”
Gursimar’s best advice is to stop making plans about photographing, and just get out there and do it. For him, mistakes are for learning and confidence always comes with practice.
“Grab your camera, get out there, and start clicking away. Don’t limit yourself to just one subject or idea. Be open-minded and explore different perspectives.”
