As with all familiar things, it can be easy to overlook the influence of the moon on our lives.

Its presence in the sky has served as a comforting sight and an inspiring celestial neighbor for all who gaze on it. The moon’s harmonious orbit has been an awe-inspiring phenomenon since humanity’s earliest days on earth, figuring prominently in the stories of practically every culture that has existed throughout our history.

Today, we continue to be delighted by those who document our luminous lunar satellite on VSCO. We collected some of that imagery to showcase the moon from the perspective of creators around the world.

“Lately I have been chasing the moon in all its forms, especially this photo, which emerged from an attempt at a double exposure that did not come out how I expected, but I loved it.” — beugeniaa

“This photo was created in a small experiment: I used a red gel on a light near my lens while photographing the sky with a really slow shutter speed, shooting with 120mm film.” — Celia Tang

“I’d be standing looking at the moon and suddenly the truth of what I’m seeing will just wash over me — that there’s this completely foreign, barren, and unexplored but beautiful land suspended in the skies orbiting us, and it is right there!! And then the mind starts to wander and I think about what the sunset would look like from there, or how small our own seas and lands and our human problems look, and I can’t help but think what incredible wonders lie there, just waiting to be discovered.” — Vijay Sarathy
