Jeremy Cowart, a household name photographer, specializes in environmental portraiture. His creative mind, together with his technical abilities behind the camera, has opened doors to photograph some of the biggest celebrity names out there including Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Ryan Seacrest, Carrie Underwood, Sting & Maggie Gyllenhall.

One of the many things we love about Jeremy is his imagination and vision for a shoot. His photos are truly unique works of art, and he never seems to run out of fresh ideas or new ways to approach photography. We shadowed Jeremy on the set of a moody photo shoot for the movie Nexus, creating the above short film with a soundtrack courtesy of SOLA-MI. As he photographed actress Marielle Jaffe, of ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager", we were in amazement watching

him create a story of darkness and woe in a gritty downtown loft in Los Angeles. While the location offered a diversity of settings, Jeremy didn't want the environment to detract from the model and his concept for the set of photographs. "Today's shoot was interesting, because we were at a very busy environment visually, but I was trying to eliminate everything and just focus on the model, using light and color to create interesting images. I didn't want it to look like we were shooting at a loft. So I had to be very creative." To accomplish this, Jeremy used various methods including slow shutter speed and movement to isolate Marielle.

The results of the day are jaw-dropping. Shot both digitally and on an iPhone, Jeremy edited all images using VSCO products, VSCO Film and VSCO Cam. If you're curious, the last 5 images are VSCO Cam photos.
